Glasgow cops probing £200k whisky theft after truck with 2,400 cases of malt stolen from industrial estate
CROOKS stole a booze truck carrying GBP200,000-worth of whisky from an industrial estate in Glasgow. Cops have launched a probe into the theft of 2,400 cases of Glenfiddich 12-year single malt.
The truck, nicked from Clydesmill Industrial Estate, had almost GBP90k of booze stolen
A red articulated trailer with white writing was stolen from Clydesmill Industrial Estate around 9.15pm last Friday. The truck was found abandoned five miles away on Whistleberry Road, Blantyre, on Tuesday morning – but the top Scotch had been swiped.
Police have called on anyone who may have seen the red trailer during the days after it was stolen to come forward.
And they have urged anyone who has been offered the chance to buy Glenfiddich at a knockdown price recently to get in touch.
Detective Sergeant Stephen Greenshields, Shettleston CID, said: “I am keen to speak to anyone who has seen this trailer since it was stolen on Friday, December 11, until the empty trailer was recovered in Blantyre on Tuesday, December 15. “I’d also like to speak to anyone who has been approached and offered to buy any of this type of whisky at a considerably reduced price and where the seller has no proof of purchase or ownership.”
