Live A47 crash Wansford Sutton: Updates as road closed and 'at least one person injured'

At least one person has been seriously injured in a multiple-vehicle crash on the A47 today (January 28). Two lorries and a car were involved in the collision on the road close to the village of Sutton, outside Peterborough in the north of Cambridgeshire. The crash has closed the A47 in both directions from the A1 junction at Wansford to Sutton Heath Road.

Police, the fire service and paramedics are currently in attendance at the scene this afternoon. Police have said that “at least one person has been seriously injured” in the accident. A spokesman for police said: “Officers are currently responding to a serious collision on the A47 near Sutton.

“The collision, which happened at about 12.30pm today (28 January), involved two HGVs and a car. “Paramedics and fire crews also attended the scene. At least one person has been seriously injured, but further details are unclear at this stage.

“The road has been closed in both directions from the A1 junction at Wansford to Sutton Heath Road.”

Police have also asked that anyone who witnessed the accident contact police as they begin their investigation into how the crash happened.
