Police car is mangled in a crash with a BMW outside Portsmouth Naval Base blocking M275

The incident took place shortly before 10.45am at the junction of Mile End Road and Princess Royal Way – near the Trafalgar Gate entrance to the dockyard. Pictures from the scene show a marked police car with a mangled bonnet blocking the M275 northbound, having smashed through the railings by the traffic lights. A black BMW, also involved in the collision, has blasted through the metal railings by the pedestrian crossing, with the car suffering significant damage to its rear end.
