Roof cut off by firefighters as two car crash closes major city road
The roof of a car was cut off after a dramatic crash closed a major road through the city. Emergency services were called to Smithdown Road, close to the cemetery, shortly before 6pm to reports of a two car smash. It was believed that people had become trapped trapped in one of the cars leading fire crews to cut off the roof.
Dramatic images taken at the scene also show extreme damage to both cars that were left blocking the road after the crash. One of the cars involved ended up on the footpath close to a bus stop but thankfully no one was seriously injured in the incident. Road closures were quickly put in place on the road between Webster Road and Tunstall Street near Princes Park.
