Stark warning issued to parents after young children seen riding scramblers on busy industrial estate

Parents have been given a stark warning by police after children as young as 12 were seen riding scrambler bikes on a busy industrial estate. Officers were called to the Llandygai Industrial Estate in Bangor after youngsters were seen riding off-road bikes in the middle of the road without wearing helmets. The force has now warned parents that they did not want to have to deliver “bad news” to them about a crash involving their child.

A spokesman for the roads policing unit said: “We received some calls earlier reporting a group of children riding trial bikes in the middle of the road on the Industrial estate in Llandegai, Bangor.

They added: “Whilst the officer was there a HGV driver approached him to say one of the children almost collided with his vehicle. “We urge all parents/carers to know where their children are and where they go to use these bikes. “The last thing we want is to be knocking on people’s doors to deliver bad news.

“Patrols of the area will continue.”
