Waitrose investigating after claims delivery van 'crashed into parked car' in Cheltenham

Waitrose are investigating after a Cheltenham resident claims to have filmed one of their delivery drivers crashing into a parked vehicle. The resident, who did not wish to be named, captured the footage in Sherborne Street, near the town centre, on Friday night (January 8) at around 9.15pm. A Waitrose and Partners spokesman said: “We’re disappointed to hear these claims and are currently investigating this as a matter of urgency.”

The resident claimed the supermarket delivery van was having difficulty manoeuvring on the narrow street and then cracked the rear light of the pick-up truck in front. They said: “I’m hoping the driver reported it to his employer. “The reason I was watching him is because he seemed to be doing about a 20-point turn.

It was quite loud, the van, and seemed to rev a lot. That’s what made me look round. “I didn’t video him hit it as I had no reason to but [took] video after in case he didn’t stop.”

They went on to say: “In the video he gets out, checks the parked car checks his van and drives off. I’m surprised no one heard it. I was up by One Stop, that’s why the video quality is so bad.

“I don’t know who the car belonged to, I went to look at damage and no one was around. “I’m sure it was Waitrose. I get my shopping delivered and know their vans.

On the back it said waitrose.com”
