A27 exit ramp closed after lorry overturns on Shoreham Bypass

DRIVERS are being urged to avoid part of the A27 after a lorry overturned. Police, fire and ambulance crews are currently on the scene of the incident at Shoreham. Pictures of the aftermath of the incident show that the windscreen of the lorry shattered in the crash.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: “Emergency services were called just after 2.30pm to reports of an overturned lorry on the slip road coming off of the A27 westbound carriageway on the Shoreham bypass.

“The slip road has been closed, but the main A27 remains open at this time. “We are asking drivers to avoid the area where possible as delays are likely. “Members of the public assisted the driver of the lorry until emergency services arrived on scene.

Sussex Roads Police are also urging people to stay away from the area if possible while recovery work is carried out. A spokesman said: “Emergency services are currently on the scene dealing with an overturned lorry on the slip road coming off of the A27 westbound at the Shoreham Bypass close to the Cloverleaf Roundabout. “Please avoid the area where possible as delays are likely.”
