Binman In Leeds Knocks Over Snowman In Parody Clip
The binman who decapitated a snowman in Hereford ended up being sacked for the viral clip – prompting thousands to sign a petition for him to get his job back. And now his actions are even inspiring copycat stunts elsewhere in the country, with two blokes in Leeds filming an amusing spoof video. As Chris Oliver and Paul Walker battled the elements to collect the bins in Harehill, Leeds, they decided to have ‘a bit of fun’.

Don’t worry, the duo didn’t heartlessly destroy anyone else’s creation – Chris jumped out of the refuse truck and built a mini snowman on top of someone’s bin, before filming as his colleague casually destroyed it.
Sharing the clip on Facebook, Chris wrote: “Binman caught punching snowman….. calls to get him sacked!!“
Someone commented on the post: “This is hilarious.”
According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, bin collections have now been suspended by Leeds Council due to heavy snow, but the bin lorries had been out trying to make as many collections as possible. Speaking to the outlet, Chris said: “We did this in Harehills, I built the snowman. I jumped out of the wagon and built it and also filmed it.
Don’t sack him – it’s just a bit of fun. “We all need a laugh – here’s some entertainment for you.“
Herefordshire Council later confirmed the binman had been sacked, but a petition is now calling for his employers to ‘grow up’ and give him his job back. FCC, a Herefordshire Council contractor who employed the binman, told LADbible: “We were alerted to the incident by concerned residents and having reviewed the footage it was clear that the actions taken by this individual were not in keeping with the conduct expected of people representing our business or the council.
“As the individual was employed through an agency, we requested that he did not return to work other than to hand the uniform back. We believe this to be an appropriate measure given the nature of the incident.” A Herefordshire Council spokesperson told LADbible: “The council was made aware of this incident and referred it to our waste collection contractor who employed the individual through an agency.
“They have handled the matter according to their HR policies and have made the decision to request that he not return to work, as is their prerogative.”
