Disruption at busy Uttoxeter roundabout as truck sheds heavy load
Drivers and pedestrians faced disruption at a busy roundabout today when a truck shed a load so heavy it took a crane to lift it. A super-heavy tractor part fell off the truck onto the pavement in Uttoxeter this morning, February 9. It happened at the roundabout linking Dove Way, Old Knotty Way and Derby Road.
The pavement was closed off by police, who also shut the stretch of road between Dove Bank and Derby Road while recovery took place. A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: “We were called to a report of a truck’s load becoming unsecure earlier today. “The vehicle, carrying tractor parts, had stopped on the A518 close to Roebuck Close in Uttoxeter at around 8.35am this morning.
“One of the parts had become dislodged and had fallen onto the pavement, which was subsequently closed off.
“Due to its weight and position, specialists were contacted to help lift the part back on to the truck, with the stretch from Dove Bank to Derby Road closed for around 30 minutes while this took place.
“The road was fully reopened at 1.30pm.”
