Expansion plan for Exelby Services Golden Fleece HGV park
The Exelby Services Golden Fleece HGV park, just off the M6 at junction 42, could be set for an expansion of the number of trucks it can accommodate as plans for the demolition of a former cafe next to the site have been submitted for consideration. The applicant, Northallerton-based Exelby Services Ltd, which runs the Golden Fleece park, has submitted a planning application to Carlisle City Council for the demolition of the former Thistle Cafe, which lies adjacent to the HGV park. The former Thistle Cafe has “not been trading for over a year”, according to planning documents.
The plans propose a demolition of the former Thistle Cafe building, in order to put in place eight new HGV parking spaces.
The Golden Fleece service station is described as a “well used facility”, and a “busy site for the refuelling and secure parking of trucks”, and the proposed additional parking bays are described as “necessary to meet the demand for secure refuge parking”.
