Carlisle firefighters help rescue man from HGV


Firefighters from four stations were called to help extract a man from a HGV. Crews from Carlisle East, West, Longtown and Brampton were all called to action by North West Ambulance Service at about 11.30am in Kingstown. The man was unable to get out of his cab after suffering pain in his back.

A spokesman for Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service said: “Appliances were mobilised to assist the NWAS with the extrication of a male casualty from the cab of an HGV, who was suffering from back pain. “The HGV had not been involved in a road traffic collision, and crews assisted the casualty out of the cab using a short extension ladder. “While the incident was ongoing, there was also a small fire in the open which has spread to a garden fence.

Longtown appliance was released from the incident and extinguished the fire using a hosereel and small tools.
