Dramatic moment lorry driver crashes into car on M1 and then drives off

This is the shocking moment that a HGV driver collides with a car on the motorway in South Yorkshire and then drives off. South Yorkshire Police are now appealing for the driver of the HGV to come forward and assist them with their investigation. The scary crash happened on the M1 at around 1.30pm on March 4, leaving the occupants of the black Peugeot uninjured but “shaken” according to police.

Shocking footage of the crash shows the HGV attempting to change lanes and crashing into the Peugeot before then moving back into the middle lane and speeding away. The black Peugeot then crashes into the barrier on the hard shoulder and comes to a stop.

Investigating officer Natalie Booler said: “We are appealing for the driver of the HGV to come forward and assist us with our investigation, or for anyone who witnessed the incident to provide us with information.

“It is likely that the HGV vehicle returned to its place of work with significant damage. “The HGV was carrying yellow and red gas bottles that may be identified by the company or owner.” Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting incident number 448 of 4 March 2021.
