Everything we know about the A55 crash involving a HGV and a motor home

At least one casualty was taken to hospital following a collision between a lorry and a motor home on the A55 earlier today. The road was closed eastbound at junction 28 to 29 at Rhaullt, Denbighshire for several hours while emergency services were at the scene. Officers from North Wales Police, Traffic Wales, and one crew from the Welsh Ambulance Service responded to reports of a two-vehicle road traffic collision shortly after 4.15pm.

Traffic Wales issued a warning for heavy congestion and queuing traffic, as drivers were warned to avoid the area and find alternative routes. Check the latest travel updates in your area below: A spokesperson for North Wales Police said: “We were called at 4.17pm following reports of a two-vehicle road traffic collision (RTC) involving a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) and a mobile home.”

North Wales Police are now appealing for witnesses who may have witnessed the incident. “Further to our recent statement regarding the RTC on the eastbound carriageway of the A55 at Rhuallt Hill, we are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or who has dashcam footage to contact us via 101 or live chat quoting ref Z053540”, officers added. A Welsh Ambulance Service added: “We were called to the scene at 4.20pm by officers from North Wales Police.

“One crew attended the RTC, and at least one casualty has been transported to Wrexham Maelor hospita l for treatment.” It is not known at this time the extent of the injuries sustained or the exact number of casualties. The road fully reopened shortly before 6.35pm.
