LIVE: A55 lanes closed after smash involving lorry and caravan

A crash has closed two lanes of the A55. The accident happened at Rhuallt Hill on the eastbound carriageway. Images from traffic cameras show traffic is backing up.

Road has reopened

Traffic Wales have confirmed that the A55 Rhuallt travelling Eastbound is now open. However, heavy congestion remains in the area. 17:47Jaymelouise Hudspith

Ambulance update

A spokesperson from WAS said:

“One crew attended the RTC, and at least one casulty has been transported to Wrexham Maelor hospital for treatment.”

At this time it is not known the extent of the injuries sustained.

“Further to our recent statement regarding the RTC on the eastbound carriageway of the A55 at Rhuallt Hill we are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or who has dashcam footage to contact us via 101 or live chat quoting ref Z053540”

A spokesperson from NWP said:

“We were called at 16:17 following reports of a two vehicle road traffic collision (RTC) involving a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) and a mobile home. “The road is closed Eastbound at this time while officers remain at the scene.”

“We were called to the scene at 16:20 by officers from North Wales Police.

“One crew is in attendance.”

Emergency services were called to the scene shortly after 4:15 pm. At the moment officers from North Wales Police, and Traffic Wales are at the scene. One crew from the Welsh Ambulance Service is also in attendance.
