M602 shut after emergency services descend on 'serious' crash on Regent Road in Salford
Two major roads in Salford have been closed due to a ‘serious’ crash. Parts of the M602 and Regent Road have been shut following the smash at around 10.30pm on Tuesday. Police are urging drivers to avoid the area.
Traffic camera images show several police cars and fire engines at the roundabout near Salford Royal. The M602 is closed eastbound between junctions two and three. Two lanes are also blocked on Regent Road.
Diversions have been put in place. A statement on the Highways England website says: “The M602 in Greater Manchester is closed eastbound between J2 and J3 due to a serious collision which has occurred on the J3 roundabout. “This incident is not on Highways England network, but the closure is in place to support the scene and emergency services in attendance.”
North West Motorway Police tweeted: “M602 Eastbound – Junction 2 to J3 will be closed due to a Serious RTC on Regent Road, Salford The closure will be at Junction 2 and all traffic will be taken off Please avoid the area.” Transport for Greater Manchester tweeted: “Closure on M602 between Junction 2 and 3 Eastbound due to an RTC. “Emergency services are still in the area, please approach with caution.”
