Police close A525 near Cheshire after lorry overturns

The A525 near Whitchurch has been closed in both directions after a lorry overturned. Police say the main road from Wrexham will be closed ‘for the foreseeable future’ following the incident at Halgthon Bridge just over the Welsh border from Cheshire. North Wales Police took to social media this afternoon to urge motorists to use an alternative route.

They said: “Please be aware, the A525 at Halghton Bridge will be closed for the foreseeable time due to an overturned HGV. “Please avoid the area.” The incident occurred between the Holly Bush junction and Hanmer junction when the lorry overturned in a dip in the road near Maelor Feeds.

Police and firefighters are currently at the scene. It is understood that the driver of the heavy goods vehicle managed to escape without any injuries.
