Dashcam video shows lorry crash into railway bridge

A video released by Surrey Police shows the moment a lorry crashed into an Epsom railway bridge. The A24 High Street in Epsom was blocked in both directions for more than three hours after the incident on Friday (May 21) at about 3.40pm. Trains were also disrupted after the HGV struck the railway bridge.

Roads reopened at 7pm that evening and there were no reported injuries, according to the Surrey Road Cops police team. On Tuesday (May 25) Surrey Police confirmed that nobody had been arrested in connection with the crash. In a statement, a spokesperson said: “No arrests were made following this collision and no further action will be taken.”

In the video, posted by Surrey Road Cops, a Waitrose van is stationary when the the lorry attempts to pass through under the bridge.

The top of the lorry is shown striking the bridge before falling to its right, into the van.

The video was recorded by a dashcam, presumably belonging to a driver behind the van.
