Driver of stolen Fiesta ‘writes off’ three cars before fleeing

The driver of a suspected stolen Fiesta crashed ‘writing off’ three cars before fleeing from the wrecked vehicle. The terrifying crash happened last night (Thursday) opposite the McDonald’s restaurant on Rice Lane, Walton. Police said they received reports a Ford Fiesta, suspected to have been stolen a short time earlier, had smashed into three other vehicles around 10.15pm.

They told the ECHO they heard a “massive bang” and a “scream” following the crash and saw two men run from a car towards a park known locally as The Wreck.

Photos posted on Facebook show several cars suffering extensive damage as a result with police securing the site allowing a tow truck to take the damaged vehicles away. Nobody is reported to have been seriously injured in the crash. A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: “We were contacted at 10.15pm last night, Thursday May 27, following reports a Ford Fiesta had been involved in a road traffic collision with three other vehicles on Rice Lane.

“It is believed the Fiesta was stolen a short time earlier from outside a property in Heatherleigh Close in Bootle.

“The driver of the car left the scene before patrols arrived. “There were no reports of anyone being seriously injured. “Enquiries are ongoing.”
