Five-vehicle crash overturns lorry and shuts A14 near Cambridge

A five-vehicle crash that overturned a lorry is causing miles of queues and congestion on the A14 between Cambridge and Newmarket this morning, May 27. Cambridgeshire Police are on scene and have closed the A14 Eastbound between Junction 35 and Junction 36, near the village of Stow cum Quy. The accident involved five vehicles, two HGVs and three cars, and as a result one HGV had overturned blocking two carriageways.

The crash is causing severe delays for motorists with queues beginning to build up along other routes through Newmarket as traffic diverts. Two people have been taken to hospital but their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening. The road is currently closed while the collision is dealt with, with motorists advised to take alternate routes.

There is also some congestion on the opposite side of the road due to onlookers, according to Inrix traffic data.

People are being urged to avoid the area if possible.
