  • The driver escaped unscathed after the lorry crashed into the bridge on the A24
  • Officers partially closed the road as they tried to get the large vehicle unstuck

A lorry driver got stuck when he tried to squeeze his HGV underneath a low railway bridge.

Shocking pictures showed the lorry’s cab curled backwards and sandwiched between the trailer and the bridge in Epsom, Surrey.

The driver escaped unscathed after the A24 crash today.

Officers partially closed the road as they tried to get the large vehicle unstuck.

The railway line also remains shut, which police say is ‘limiting services in the area’.

A Surrey Police spokesperson said: ‘We are currently at East Street in Epsom following a collision involving an HGV.

‘The street remains partially closed whilst emergency services are on scene.

‘At this time, the railway line remains closed, limiting services in the area. 

‘Please check before you travel.’
