LYME Regis Football Club is well underway with preparations for its popular Sausage & Cider Festival on Saturday, July 3. The festival, backed by main sponsors Advantage Digital Print and Devon Carpets, has quickly grown in popularity having been launched in 2017, but was called off last year due to the coronavirus pandemic. Organisers are now hoping to bring the event back bigger and better than ever to raise some much-needed funds for Lyme Regis Football Club, which has had to keep its clubhouse closed for the best part of a year.

The festival will be held from 2pm to 11pm and entry to the Davey Fort ground in Charmouth Road is by purchase of GBP2 reusable festival cup, sponsored by Litter Free Dorset, which you can then use at all the bars, where a wide selection of local ciders will be available. The event will also include fully-stocked indoor and outdoor bars, a Pimm’s tent sponsored by LymeOnline, award-winning sausages from Lyme Regis Butchers on the barbecue and vegetarian options and other snacks from the kitchen. A full programme of live music will be held throughout the day on the RBS Scaffolding stage, including performances from Lyme Morris, Dorset Phil, Guilty Pleasure and culminating with headliners Dark Matter – back by popular demand having won over crowds when the festival was last held in 2019.

There will also be an ice cream truck and bouncy castle from HW Sounds to keep the kids entertained, plus an extra food truck in the evening. Please note, there will be no overnight camping or parking on site, but parking will be available at Charmouth Road car park next to the Davey Fort ground. Festival organiser Francesca Evans said: “We’re really excited to welcome everyone back to the Davey Fort football ground for a big celebration after what has been a hugely challenging year for everyone.

“As well as bring a great day out, the festival is Lyme Regis Football Club’s biggest fundraiser of the year. ‘This is more needed than ever as our clubhouse has been largely closed during a year when we have near-completed a major programme of improvements to the pitch and social facilities. “While we hope that social contact restrictions will be lifted in time for the festival, as per the government’s roadmap out of lockdown, we will be doing everything we can to ensure the festival is run safely and in line with any COVID regulations at the time.”

Many local businesses have already offered their backing to the event by signing up as sponsors and there are still some spaces for cider box sponsors. For the cost of GBP50, cider box sponsors will be widely publicised in the festival programme, around the ground on the day of the event, on a new festival website soon to be launched thanks to Sonder Digital, on social media and in the local press. Anyone interested in sponsorship can email lrfcsausageandcider@gmail.com or call Francesca on 07810 221 420.
