AN OVERTURNED lorry is causing rush hour chaos on Scotland’s busiest road The huge truck is currently on its side on the M8, just outside Edinburgh.

The lorry is understood to have flipped on its side close to junction two around 2.25pm. It blocked a section of the westbound carriageway, leaving traffic queuing back towards the capital.

A huge emergency service presence descended on the scene, with more than a dozen of officers in attendance.



Fire crews were seen gathered around the huge vehicle, with police officers directing motorists past the crash site via the hard shoulder. The Trunk Road Incident Support Service team is also on the scene.

One man has been taken to hospital as a precaution. The lorry has been moved to the hard shoulder, partially clearing the carriageway for traffic to move past.

And a diversion is currently in place along the A720 and A8 – but traffic is still slow coming out of the capital.
