Thieves steal cigs worth thousands from Tesco lorry

A manhunt is under way after thieves stolen tobacco and cigarettes worth thousands of pounds from the back of a supermarket lorry. The theft took place at around 10am last Friday (May 14) when a Tesco heavy good vehicle had been driven up the A585 Fleetwood Road towards Blackpool. At some point between the Shell Garage close to Greenhalgh Lane and the Windy Harbour lights, the driver of the HGV stopped to let a vehicle turn.

It is at this point that police believe the wagon was broken into via the back doors. Thieves stole thousands of pounds worth of cigarettes and tobacco, officers have said. A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: “We are asking anyone who was travelling in the area and saw what happened to get in touch.

“If you think you witnessed the incident unfold, or you have any dash cam footage, please get in contact on 101 quoting incident reference 394 of May 14 or you can email 8060@lancashire.police.uk.” Alternatively, you can contact independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 or online at crimestoppers-uk.org.
