Worcester Warriors 17-18 Leicester Tigers: Ellis Genge scores twice

Leicester Tigers came out 18-17 winners over Worcester Warriors, in their first Premiership game in front of fans since March 2020, writes Harry Lyons. The first half would have disappointed head coach Steve Borthwick, with both discipline and handling failing his side. As a result the Warriors dominated territory, the only time Tigers threatened the line in the first 40 minutes was in the closing minutes, before knocking on.

The highlight of the half was undoubtedly a Ted Hill try, powering past numerous defenders to score. Warriors’ woes at the set-piece ultimately cost them in this tight affair. They had a brilliant chance to win it from a five-metre line out with five minutes to go, only for it to be adjusted not straight.

Ellis Genge crossed for his second successive Premiership brace, and lead from the front throughout.
