Live: Long delays on M6 as 600 litres of diesel spills onto carriageway

A lane has been shut on the M6 with queues spanning five miles due to a fuel spillage. According to traffic monitoring system Inrix, a truck has struck a ‘pipe in the road’ which then ruptured the vehicle’s fuel tank. As a result it is estimate that round 600 litres of diesel has spilt out onto the motorway.

The incident has taken place just after Junction 13 – close to Stafford – on the Northbound carriageway.
