Live updates after man hit by lorry dies on major North London road

A man has died after being hit by a lorry outside Turnpike Lane London Underground station. According to initial reports, the pedestrian was struck by a lorry on High Road near the busy junction with Turnpike Lane. The road remains closed and a blue tent has been set up by emergency services within a large cordon.

A white lorry can be seen by the tent and a large blue tarpaulin has been set up around the area where officers from the Metropolitan Police are focusing their attention. Buses are on diversion with multiple road closures in place including the High Road and Turnpike Lane. A My London journalist is at the scene and the Met and London Ambulance Service have been approached for comment.

One eyewitness says she saw a man in his 50s with white hair lying in the road receiving CPR. Ezsi Dogan, 31, was travelling on the bus towards Turnpike Lane station. She told My London: “I saw him under the wheel.

“The driver sitting in the vehicle, he appeared to be in shock.” A statement from Haringey Council said: “The section of the High Road N22, between Alexandra Road and Turnpike Lane, is now accessible to pedestrians after being closed due to an earlier road traffic accident which sadly involved a loss of life.” Are you at the scene?
