North Wales bridge closes for filming

A well-known North Wales bridge is closing this evening and over night for filming. Rumours are circulating on social media that Flintshire Bridge will be closed so that scenes for an episode of cult motoring programme Top Gear can be shot. The bridge links Flint and Connah’s Quay.

Flintshire County Council tweeted this afternoon: “Flintshire Bridge will be closed tonight between 18.30 until 05.00 tomorrow morning to carry out maintenance works and filming.” But the tweet came at 4.14pm – just over two hours from the closure. Some drivers were unimpressed by the timing.

Richie Pem replied on Twitter: “Thank you for the two and a quarter hours notice, oh and get ready to drag a high truck from under shotton bridge.”

Others were excited by rumours Top Gear were involved.

Many Griffiths posted on Facebook: “We’ve just seen the crew setting up the equipment, lots of lights lol”

And Ann Roberts added: “There’s a black luxury car just been taken off a lorry in the lay by.”
