Two arrests after video of truck being smashed shared online

Police have arrested two men after a video of a recovery truck being smashed was shared on social media. The incident took place on Weston Road, in Meir, on Friday (June 4). In the clip, two men can be seen hitting the vehicle’s windows with display boards and lying in the middle of the road preventing cars from passing.

Traffic was halted for around 10 minutes before police arrived at the scene. Now two men, both aged 25, have been arrested on suspicion of affray, assault by beating and criminal damage. A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: “Two men have been arrested following after a recovery truck was damaged in Meir.

“Police were called at 3.20pm on Friday (4 June) to Weston Road. “All of the windows of a recovery truck had been smashed. “A 25-year-old, from Bradford, was arrested on suspicion of affray, assault by beating and two counts of criminal damage.

“Another 25-year-old, from Stoke-on-Trent, was arrested on suspicion of affray, assault by beating and criminal damage.

“Both men have been released under investigation pending further enquiries.”
