Inland beach one hour from Derby that is great for families

With scorching weather over last week and plenty more on the way for the summer holidays, it’s the perfect time to be taking advantage of the attractions on our doorstep. Less than an hour away from Derby city centre is Bosworth Water Park – a place that is about as close to a real beach as you’re likely to get without travelling to Skegness. Parking is usually simple to sort, there’s often an ice-cream truck parked up and it’s the ideal place to relax, go paddling or build a sandcastle in the summer months.

Crucially, there’s a popular beach next to a lake that warms up nicely after some sunshine. There are playgrounds galore too if your kids don’t fancy a dip. One caveat though – in normal times it can get busy when the sun shines.

So it might be best to set off early if you’re hoping to secure a place for the day.

Booking is not required for day visits but there are log cabins and pitch zones for camping and caravans that you can book.
