Lorry fire brings M5 to a standstill

Delays could last for hours

The M5 is set for delays lasting several hours as work continues following a lorry fire earlier today (July 13). The blaze was first reported shortly after 12.30pm between Junctions 10 and 11, with the motorway remaining closed in both directions between Junctions 11 and 9. Queues are stretching back along both sides of the motorway, with traffic in all directions affected between Quedgeley and the M50 interchange.

Highways England has confirmed ten miles of congestion on the motorway, with there being seven miles of tailbacks on the northbound carriageway and three miles southbound.
