M6 driver killed after serious crash involving three trucks

A driver has sadly died on the M6 after a serious crash involving three trucks. Police, paramedics and firefighters were called to the carriageway south of Lancashire on Thursday afternoon (July 8). The motorway was closed in both directions for several hours near Knutsford following the tragic collision.

Travel monitors said one of the lorries involved had overturned. The incident occurred on the southbound carriageway between Junction 20, Lymm interchange, and Junction 19 at Knutsford just before 12.40pm. Both carriageways were shut to assist emergency services.

The northbound carriageway reopened a short time later but the southbound remains closed while emergency services work at the scene and an investigation into the collision continues. Cheshire Police are appealing for witnesses following the crash.
