From talks on serial killers delivered by an expert, to Chester ‘s very own Oktoberfest, there is plenty happening across the county this weekend for you to get excited about. 49-51 Lower Bridge Street, Chester, Cheshire, CH1 1RS The Townhouse Secret Garden are recreating the famous ‘Oktoberfest’ in the centre of Chester.

The venue is set to be transformed with Oktoberfest decorations and will be serving only the best German beer or gin. On Saturday and Sunday (October 8 and 9), guests can book a four-hour session and enjoy German food and live entertainment. Jon Courtenay – What’s it all about? – Ellesmere Port

Civic Hall, Civic Way, Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, CH65 0AZ Following his success on Britain’s Got Talent, Jon Courtenay is setting out on his first UK tour and Ellesmere Port will be one of his first stops. The Mossley-based singer and entertainer became the first ever act to receive a ‘golden buzzer’ and then go on to win the competition in 2020.

On Friday, October 8 at 7.30pm, you can witness his music and the hilarious tales of his family, relationships and life traveling the world.

An Evening of Serial Killers – Ellesmere Port The Whitby Club, Dunkirk Lane, Chester Road, Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, CH65 6QF If you’re a fan of the morbid, then you’ll be delighted to know ‘An Evening Of Serial Killers’ will be coming to Ellesmere Port.

Serial killer expert, Cheish Merryweather, will focus on the world’s most notorious serial killers and mass murderers. Cheish Merryweather, who featured on BBC, said: “True crime really is having its moment lately following the release of several serial killer specials on Netflix that gripped the public. “I will be bringing together criminology and forensic psychology alongside real-life chilling stories all about some of the world’s most notorious cold-blooded killers.”

On Saturday, October 9, you will have the chance to sail through the last three decades of music. Tickets are priced at GBP33 per person and you’ll have access to a BBQ style buffet, a disco and a glass of wine on arrival.

Flash! A Tribute to Queen – Chester Alexander’s Live, Rufus Court, Chester, CH1 2JW

‘Flash!’ is an international touring tribute show to Queen and they’re coming to Chester to offer fans an evening celebrating the musical legacy of the late great Freddie Mercury. Doors will open at 7.30pm on Saturday, October 9 and tickets are available online.

The Cinema Show – Macclesfield MADS Theatre, Lord Street, Macclesfield, Cheshire, SK11 6SY

This is an audio-visual performance which unites electronic music with archived film material, bringing stories from the past to the centre stage. It will be their first live performance since March 2020 and the event boasts a new album, a new band setup and an ever-present aim to bring stories from the past to centre stage. The Cinema Show are urging people to join them for their ‘biggest’ gig yet.

John Lydon – Crewe Lyceum Crewe Lyceum, Heath Street, Crewe, CW1 2DA The frontman and lyricist of the Sex Pistols is touring the UK to coincide with his new book being publish.

John Lydon will be delivering talks about his extraordinary career and will be taking audience questions about his life. Known also as ‘Johnny Rotten’, he will be performing at the Lyceum on Sunday October 10, with standard tickets priced at GBP30 and VIP tickets starting at GBP45.

Truck Fest North West – Knutsford Clay House Farm, Flittogate Lane, Tabley, Knutsford WA16 0HJ

Truckfest North West will be held on Saturday, October 9, and Sunday, October 10 and their will be fun fair rides and live music. Truckers, truck fans and families will be able to walk around the showground getting photographs of the UKs top trucks on display, including classics of yesteryear to giant American Super trucks. The festival starts at 9am on Saturday and finishes at 5.30pm.

On Sunday, the festival starts at 9am and finishes slightly earlier, at 4.30pm.

Definitely Oasis at Live Rooms – Chester The Live Rooms, 1 Station Rd, Chester CH1 3DR After sell out gigs in 2018/19, the the UK’S Closest sounding and looking Oasis tribute are coming back to The Live Rooms on Saturday, October 9.

As Oasis look unlikely to ever get back together, ‘Definitely Oasis’ have been described as the ‘best’ tribute around by fans. Tickets are priced at GBP12 and due to many people missing out last year, make sure you book in advance. The Warriors at Salty Dog – Northwich

The Salty Dog, 23 High Street, Northwich, CW9 5BZ The Warriors have been described as ‘one of the best’ Oi! bands and they will be ‘having a beer’ at the Salty Dog on Sunday, October 10. Area 55 from Stoke and The Big I Am from Manchester, will both be joining the band and the event starts at 3pm, finishing at 6pm.

Tickets are priced at just GBP9 if you book in advance.

Ellie Taylor at Crewe Lyceum Crewe Lyceum, Heath Street, Crewe CW1 2DA Ellie Taylor recently recorded a Netflix stand-up special and has appeared on TV shows such as QI, Would I Lie to You and Mock the Week.

On Saturday, October 9 the brilliant comedian will be performing at the Lyceum and tickets are available from just GBP19.

The show has already been rescheduled twice but looks set to go ahead this weekend.
