Coca-Cola Christmas truck tour
You know it’s nearly Christmas when the Coca-Cola truck rocks up at towns and cities across the country. After last year’s Christmas truck tour was cancelled due to Covid-19, Coca-Cola has confirmed this year the iconic tour will be going ahead. But in 2021 it will be making a change to the iconic tour as it returns to the streets for the first time in 24 months.
: Every Christmas event happening in Birmingham city centre in 2021 It has emerged the firm is holding back the dates of the truck tour until closer to the time when they have more certainty that they can go ahead. Here we have rounded up what we know so far about the highly-anticipated return of the Coca-Cola truck this Christmas.
What is the Coca-Cola truck?
Each and every year, the iconic red truck tours the nation, bringing festive cheer and sparking jingles of ‘Holidays Are Coming’.
The start of the festive season is often signalled by the bright red truck with thousands of people taking the chance to grab a free bottle of Coke. Normally at each stop, fans can project festive selfies across the side of the vehicle – which is covered in fairy lights. And also be able to enjoy a can of Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, Diet Coke or Coca-Cola Classic in a ‘winter wonderland’ setting.
Coca Cola is renowned for its iconic soft drinks, from its original flavour cans and bottles, to Diet variations, and flavoured combos, like Cherry, Vanilla and more. It also features on the increasingly-popular Christmas Coca-Cola advert, which has also yet to be broadcast on television. It is so popular, there is even a dedicated Facebook page to track its whereabouts and share the latest news. ‘Christmas 2021 Coca Cola Truck Tour’ has 1.9k people following it.
Why wasn’t there a Coca-Cola truck tour last year?
Coca-Cola put a stop to the tour last year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Last year they released a statement on Twitter, saying: “In light of further Covid-19 restrictions announced around the country and in line with Government guidelines, unfortunately, we can’t go ahead with our annual Coca-Cola Christmas Truck Tour this year. “We know this will be disappointing for many people, but our priority is the safety of our consumers and employees.”

When is the Coca-Cola truck tour in 2021?
This year, Coca Cola is making a change to the tour – as it returns to the streets for the first time in 24 months.
It has emerged the firm is holding back the dates of the truck tour until closer to the time when they have more certainty that they can go ahead. An inside source spoke to the Daily Star: “The team behind the amazing truck tour understand that everyone is really keen the truck comes to their town because people love it. “But it has been an unprecedented year and because of this, things will be a little bit different.
There won’t be a long list of dates announced at once. “Locations are still being finalised and will be announced region by region when they are confirmed and people will still have enough time to plan their visit.” And so far, no details of dates or locations for this year’s appearances have been released.
But there speculation is already growing online. Social media users have taken to Twitter, with one asking: “I can’t take the suspense anymore. Please announce the dates for the Coca-Cola Christmas lorry tour.”
Cryptically, Coca-Cola replied with the wide eyes emoji. While Matty Larson said: “Are holidays and also more important the truck coming this year?” With Coca-Cola replying: “Our lips are sealed Matty.”
Kelly added: “Patiently waiting for the Christmas Coca-Cola truck tour to be announced.” With the brand replying: “Keep your eyes on our socials…”
Where in the West Midlands has the Coca-Cola truck visited before?
The Coca-Cola truck has toured dozens of towns, cities and shopping centres over the years. The last time it toured the country, back in November and December 2019, it stopped off at 19 locations – starting at Edinburgh and ending in London. During that tour, it’s most local destination was Merry Hill Shopping Centre in Brierley Hill, Dudley, where it spent two days.
It was the truck’s ninth tour of the country. In 2018, it visited Sutton Coldfield and Birmingham. In 2017 it visited a total of 42 locations across the UK – including Telford Shopping Centre, Edgbaston Street in Birmingham and Coventry.
Stay abreast of the latest on days out, nights out, shopping and more with our Daily What’s On Email updates. Forty-four locations were visited in 2016, including Telford and Birmingham. Leicester was the closest location in 2015 – but in 2014 it went to the Bullring Shopping Centre in Birmingham, as well as Coventry.
It also visited Wolverhampton way back in 2012, at the old Waitrose store off the Penn Road.
