Emergency services have been called out to Stow following reports of a smash on the A7. Early eyewitness reports suggest a car has been involved in a collision with a wall near the Craigend Road junction, shortly before 10pm. A passing truck driver is understood to have helped the motorist out of the vehicle.

The road – which runs between Galashiels and Edinburgh – was partially blocked for a time, although traffic was still getting through. Police and fire crews were quickly on the scene. A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received report of a road traffic crash involving a car and a lorry on the A7 Galashiels Road in Stow around 9.40pm.

“No-one is injured and the road is currently blocked.”
