‘Extensive recovery’ required after lorry hits Hampshire bridge

A major Hampshire road will be closed at 5pm while recovery of a lorry takes place. The A31 at Ringwood will be fully closed westbound after a lorry collided with a bridge and became stuck. Images shared by Hampshire Constabulary show the vehicle wedged under the bridge.

: Inside the stunning Hampshire estate that is Rightmove’s third most viewed property in the UK Police have asked drivers to find alternative routes. The incident occurred around 1.30pm.

Alongside the pictures, police said: “A31 WESTBOUND at Ringwood. HGV has struck a bridge with its load and will require extensive recovery. The A31 will be closed to facilitate this so make alternative arrangements to travel home.”

The whole A31 was closed at one point in time, as was the whole westbound carriageway. Until 5pm just one lane of the A31 westbound will be closed. HampshireLive will bring you the latest on the closure and the traffic situation in our live blog.
