More A63 traffic chaos due to overturned lorry at key roundabout

Police a currently in attendance as an overturned lorry has closed the slip road onto the A63 westbound at the Melton Road roundabout. The area is continuing to see delays today (Tuesday, November 22) after last night’s horror crash on the A63 approaching the junction which claimed three lives. The diversion is currently sending westbound traffic on the dual carriageway off at the A15 and through North Ferriby, motorists are now facing further disruption due to a one vehicle collision at the junction with Melton Road. The road has been closed while work is undertaken to clear the overturned lorry.

A Humberside Police spokesperson said: “Officers are currently in attendance at a reported road traffic collision on the A63, westbound at the off slip at North Ferriby. “This is believed to be a one vehicle collision.

The road has been closed.” There is no timescale at the moment for how long the road will be closed while the obstruction is cleared but the police have confirmed that no other vehicles are believed to have been involved. The roundabout and junction has been busier than usual today following the A63 crash last night which forced the closure of the A63 westbound between the A15 and the Melton Road junction.

Accident investigation work is still being undertaken on the dual carriageway between those two points though the eastbound carriageway was reopened earlier this morning.
