Somerset Covid latest as four more deaths confirmed

Four people have died from Covid in Somerset in the last 24 hours according to the latest data. It’s bleak news to report from the county today (Tuesday, November 16) four fatalities and hundreds more cases have been confirmed. Meanwhile Bath and North East Somerset remains the local authority with one of the highest coronavirus rates in the country.

: Taunton mum’s plea after dad of two killed by truck while riding motorbike BANES saw two more Covid-related deaths and 108 new cases in the latest 24 hour period. Somerset West and Taunton also recorded two more deaths and 71 new cases.

The local authority to record the most cases according to the latest figures is North Somerset, with 134. Meanwhile, South Somerset recorded 103 more cases, Sedgemoor 66 and Mendip 65. It brings the total number of cases in Somerset since the beginning of the pandemic to 117, 534, and the total number of deaths to 1,415.

Bath and North East Somerset’s rate is currently 493.5 cases per 100,000 people, which is far higher than the UK rate of 376.
