Coca-Cola Christmas truck arrives and Lancashire families are loving it

The Coca-Cola Christmas truck tour has arrived in the North West – and families for Lancashire are loving it. People have travelled far and wide to get a glimpse of the iconic red truck as it parks up outside the Trafford Centre this weekend. It has returned to the region for the first time since 2019 and many waited in line in the freezing cold just to get a picture with it.

Tracy Pickup and her family travelled from Burnley to see the Coca-Cola truck yesterday – and she even finished work early just so she’d have the time to drive down to see it.

“It’s taken us nine years to get here,” she told the M.E.N. “Every time we arranged to get here something else come up.” She flies to Lanzarote today (Saturday) and made sure that she came down today to see it before her Christmas getaway.

“It’s something I’ve never seen before and we’re always drinking Coca-Cola,” she said. Last year, because of the pandemic, the Coca-Cola Christmas Truck Tour was cancelled. Unlike previous years when a full schedule of stops has been announced in advance, the company is this year drip-feeding its locations, confirming stops just a few days before its planned arrival.

It is not known whether the truck will travel next to Lancashire or other parts of the region. It was only announced this week that the truck would be making its way to The Trafford Centre – where it will stay until Sunday, December 5. It’s open from 11am to 8pm this weekend.

The Coca-Cola truck first appeared on screen in November 1995 and has since become a familiar fixture in festive TV schedules across more than 100 different countries. The classic advert shows a procession of twinkly trucks snaking their way through a snowy landscape, lighting up Christmas trees and houses as they pass while children watch in wonder.
