Dramatic pictures show M23 at standstill after lorry overturns

Drivers can expect mile-long queues on the M23 after a lorry overturned near Crawley this morning (December 1). Scaffolding equipment was strewn across the carriageway following the incident which also involved an Audi. The road has been closed between J10 for the A264 Copthorne Way at Crawley to J11 for A23 at Pease Pottage.

A diversion is in place via the A2011 westbound and the the A23 southbound (Hollow Diamond).

The route is as follows:

• Exit the M23 at J10 and enter the westbound carriageway of the A2011 towards the Tushmore Gyratory.
• At the Tushmore Gyratory continue westbound then exit on to the A23 on which it continues passing through 4 roundabout junctions.
• Re-join the M23 at J11.

Other routes in the area have also been affected due to the collision, with delays passing into the Surrey border.
