A31 lorry crash: the diversions in place for drivers as road closed both ways

DRIVERS are facing long delays after a lorry crashed into a footbridge on the A31 near Ashley Heath. The A31 is closed in both directions between the A348 near Ferndown and the A338 near Ringwood. Emergency services are currently on the scene.

LIVE UPDATES: Lorry crashes into footbridge on A31 near Ringwood National Highways said there is an “extensive” amount of debris on the carriageway. Motorists are being urged to avoid the area with diversions currently in place. 

Eastbound traffic is being diverted via the hollow circle diversion symbol From the A31 eastbound, leave at the Palmersford roundabout. Use the 2nd exit and join the A347.

Continue into Ferndown. At the A347/A348 traffic signal controlled junction, turn left and continue on the A347 through West Parley to the B3073 Christchurch Road traffic signal controlled junction. Turn left onto the B3073 and following past Bournemouth International Airport, continue for approximately 3 miles, to the A338 interchange.

Turn left at the T junction and join the A338 dual carriageway. Follow for approximately 6 miles, to the A31 Ashley Heath interchange. At the roundabout, use the 3rd exit to rejoin the A31 eastbound.

Westbound traffic is being diverted via the hollow square diversion symbol From the A31 westbound, leave at the Ashley Heath interchange. At the roundabout, use the 1st exit and join the A338 dual carriageway.

Continue for approximately 6 miles. Leave at the B3073 interchange. At the T junction, turn right and join the B3073 Hurn Road.

Continue for approximately 3 miles and pass Bournemouth International Airport. Follow to the A347 New Road traffic signal controlled junction. Turn right and join the A347.

Follow to the A347/A348 Ringwood Road traffic signal controlled junction at Ferndown. Turn right at the junction and continue on the A347 through Ferndown. Continue to the A31 Palmersford roundabout.

At the roundabout, use the 1st exit to rejoin the A31 westbound.
