Armed police descend on two North Staffordshire streets

Firearms officers descended on two streets after reports of an armed man ‘making threats to kill’. Police were alerted to the incident at York Street, in Newcastle-under-Lyme, at around noon on Sunday, June 19. They arrested an 18-year-old on suspicion of making threats to kill.

He was later released with no further action. It has since emerged that armed police were also sent to Scrivener Road, in Cliffe Vale A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: “Just before noon yesterday (Sunday 19 June) police received a report of a man with a weapon making threats.

Firearms officers attended an addresses in York Street, Newcastle-under-Lyme, and Scrivener Road, in Cliffe Vale. “No weapons were found during a search. An 18-year-old man, from Stoke-on-Trent, was arrested on suspicion of making threats to kill.

He was later released with no further action.”
