Basingstoke truck driver drove in Oxfordshire while 14 tonnes over the legal vehicle weight

A BASINGSTOKE truck driver has been forced to pay more than GBP800 after driving while 14 tonnes over the permitted vehicle weight limit. Lamen Ceesay, of Florence Way, drove a Scania truck on the A415 at Newbridge on two occasions on October 1 2021, and again on two occasions on October 7 2021. The permitted vehicle weight on that road is 18 tonnes, but on each occasion the truck’s gross laden weight was 32 tonnes.

At Oxford Magistrates’ Court on May 20 2022, Ceesay admitted to the offences and was fined GBP146 for each of the four counts. He was additionally ordered to pay a surcharge of GBP58 and costs of GBP180, making a total of GBP822. Message from the editor
