Bath’s tiny coffee truck worth queuing up for at Glastonbury

Glastonbury Festival is famed for its plethora of food and drink stalls, but few come more bijou than the Steampunk Coffee Co from Bath. Justin Wolfe-Dean learnt his trade from the very first barista at Worthy Farm and has a passion for excellence. He spent eight years helping his friend Callum craft delicious brews for weary festival-goers, before opening up his own stall.

In conversation with Bath Live, he reminisced on how it all began. The 50-year-old said: “I was trained by the first coffee barista to have a pitch at Glastonbury. His name is Callum and he is from New Zealand.

He had to work very hard to convince Michael Eavis that a coffee shop would work at Glasto, but he did it. READ MORE – The full Glastonbury 2022 line-up Bath’s most prestigious restaurant keeps Michelin star for 2022

“It was called Callum’s Coffee and I also worked with an Australian girl called Shannon. I did eight seasons with them and their main focus was always good-quality coffee “Nowadays, I also run The Western cafe in Bath.

It’s all about bringing people the great coffee I was shown by the New Zealanders and Aussies. We put two shots of standard in our coffees, not just one, to give it a richer flavour.” By 2018, Justin was ready for his own pitch and Callum was happy to help out.

Luckily, he had just the thing his pal was looking for. READ MORE: Pete Doherty sends X-rated message to Michael Eavis “I used the original unit that he had for his very first pitch at Glastonbury.

They were overwhelmed the first time they pitched there, so the next year they went out and bought a bigger unit. “That means I got the smaller one and I turned it into the Steampunk Coffee Company. I renovated it all myself.

The picture on the back is a Victorian mining tunnel, which is in keeping with the steampunk theme.” You can find Justin’s stall on The Glade this year. There may be a queue, but the quality brew is worth the wait.
