DVSA warn of potential MOT fail for HGV drivers
Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency have warned drivers regarding the risks of not loading HGVs properly. Testing a vehicle’s braking performance is a really important part of the annual test. The DVSA is reminding all operators to bring your vehicles to test with a load.
To carry out the brake test effectively, drivers should load their vehicle to 65% of its design axle weight. Drivers can supply the load themselves or the Authorised Testing Facility (ATF) may be able to supply ballast for themselves. There may be a charge for this, so it is best to check with the ATF first.
The DVSA is working with the Traffic Commissioners to highlight the importance of laden brake testing.
