Island Poké opens first UK site outside London at Bicester Village

A food business that serves Hawaiian poke dishes has opened its first UK site outside London – in Oxfordshire. Island Poke has launched an outlet at Bicester Village as part of a planned major expansion. The new eatery is situated in a kiosk unit along the village’s main thoroughfare with enough seating for up to 40 people.

Its menu features poke bowl varieties ranging from Classic Ahi Tuna to Yuzu Lomi Lomi salmon, as well as vegetarian, vegan and chicken options. There is also the opportunity for customers to build their own bowl by choosing from over a million poke combinations. The firm wants to open in 100 locations across the UK in the next five years including four new restaurants in Edinburgh – there are currently 18 outlets in London and nine in France.

It’s our mission to grow across the UK and beyond, bringing people a great and fresh alternative to the traditional lunch and dine-out offering, and we feel that there is a great match between our loyal customers and those that shop at Bicester Village.”

James says he first got a taste for poke after spending his childhood summers between the beaches of California and the tropical islands of Hawaii.

He later spotted a gap in the market in London’s lunch scene, quit his job at an art gallery and started trading at a street food market.

Island Poke is part of the Hero Brands group – which also includes German Doner Kebab, Choppaluna, Sides and XIX Vodka within its portfolio – and is supported by hospitality development platform White Rabbit Projects group too.
