Dramatic pictures show devastation of A5117 lorry fire near Elton
Dramatic pictures show the devastation caused after a lorry carrying 20 tons of household recycling caught fire. Emergency services were called to the incident on the A5117 near Elton, close to the M56, at around 6.42am today (July 29). Crews from Powey Lane and Ellesmere Port arrived at the scene and found the lorry’s trailer ablaze.
Firefighters used two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire. The container’s load has been emptied onto the carriageway and highways officers were called to the incident. Police have closed the road while the scene is cleared.

“Two hose reel jets and breathing apparatus are in use to extinguish the fire in a lorry trailer containing around 20 tons of household recycling. “Highways have been asked to attend as truck waste is being emptied onto the carriageway and will need clearing.
The incident is being reduced to one fire engine and police have closed the road.”
