Johnny Vegas heading to South Derbyshire stately home

A comedian and TV star is making his way to a South Derbyshire stately home as part of a new series of a popular Channel 4 show. Johnny Vegas is heading to Melbourne Hall after handpicking the site to host his hugely popular Field of Dreams campsite. This is a unique glamping experience consisting of lovingly restored and converted vehicles, including a German fire truck, Patricia the bus, an American school bus, a classic Citroen Camper and three new additions to the unique fleet.

It is all part of the Channel 4 series, Johnny Vegas: Carry On Glamping, and will follow the setting up and running of a premier experience. It will also feature a comedy evening compered by the funnyman within the famed wall garden on Sunday, September 11, plus an accompanying film night showcasing one of his favourite movies and a question and answer session on Thursday, September 15. A spokesman for the event said: “Having performed at Live At Melbourne Hall in May, Johnny approached Lord Kerr with the idea of bringing his Field of Dreams to the grounds of the South Derbyshire stately home and everyone agreed it was the perfect location for the pop up site. “This new six-part series will follow Johnny and his long-suffering assistant Bev as they set their sights on developing the business. After opening the original Yorkshire glampsite in 2021, it became a roaring success with bookings aplenty, however, ambitions for a bigger site meant Johnny needed to move on.

“This led Johnny and Bev to undertake a search to find a new home for the eclectic collection of repurposed vehicles that they share with Jim and Claire. The new site of Melbourne Hall has certainly given Johnny some ideas; with a boat set for conversion to a stylish glamping pied-a-terre that will take up a prime place beside the lake, and a helicopter joining the other iconic vehicles across two sites, both within a short walk from the pool and the famous walled gardens which play host to the amazing Live At Melbourne Hall summer series of events.” The pop-up site will be hosted at Melbourne Hall for 28 days as a test run, before hopefully setting up a permanent home at Melbourne Hall next year.
