Police launch hunt for registered sex offender
Police are on the hunt for a registered sex offender last seen carrying two plastic bags after he breached the terms of his licence. Shaun Aver was last seen yesterday (August 5) at the job centre in Carlisle. He is now wanted on recall to prison. The 36-year-old offender – who also uses the name Paul Aver – has links to the south and west areas of Lancashire, as well as Durham in the north east.
Members of the public who see him have been warned not to approach. They should instead notify police immediately. Aver failed to comply with the conditions of his licence.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Constabulary said: “Aver, aged 36, is a registered sex offender who is wanted on recall to prison after breaching the conditions of his licence. He had been in prison for failing to comply with his sex offender notification requirements, after being convicted of sexual activity with a male child. “He was last seen yesterday at the job centre in Carlisle.
He also has links to the south and west areas of Lancashire, as well as Durham. He may also be using the rail network to travel around. “Aver is described as 5ft 8ins tall and of stocky build.
He was last seen wearing bright blue trainers, faded black jeans, a navy t-shirt with white stripes around the sleeves and a dark, mid-length coat. He was carrying a Wilko carrier bag and a large Sainsbury’s bag for life. Please don’t approach Aver if you see him but contact us straight away.”
