New era for shop in ‘special’ town selling toys & paddling pools

A longstanding sweet shop has been taken over by a husband and wife duo who have given it a new lease of life. New owners, John and Marie Burton, have had a full refit of Ruby's Sweet Treats in Woodhall Spa and are now selling children's toys as well as sweets. The quirky sweet shop on Station Road boasts some modern fixtures such as rolled ice cream, a full pick and mix counter with over 80 varieties of sweets, a Millions wall dispensary and topped ice cream.

While the couple still offer an array of traditional sweets, they also sell a range of popular American candy and drinks such as Sour Punch, Jolly Rancher, Warheads and Hersheys. The couple may have given the shop a unique revamp but they have always been intent on keeping it as a sweet shop to continue its legacy. Mr Burton said: "We promised the existing owner that we would keep it as a sweet shop when we took over."
