A 19-year-old man from an exclusive events and hire company has suffered severe injuries after his colleague pinned him against a wall with his truck.

The young man, who works for Sydney-based Bennelong Event Hire company, was setting up an event on Monday morning when he got caught behind the company's reversing truck.

Police were first to arrive at the Lord Howe St home on Dover Heights, in Sydney's east, and immediately made a tourniquet - a medical device used in to apply pressure to a limb to stop blood flow - to help the man's crushed leg.

Lord Howe St sits in one of Sydney's most exclusive suburbs and runs parallel to the famous Dover Heights cliffs, that offer stunning views of the city skyline.

Intensive care paramedics stabilised the man before rushing him to hospital for treatment.

The 19-year-old suffered a suspected complex fracture and significant injuries to his leg.

It appears the driver, who holds a New South Wales provisional P2 drivers licence, reversed the truck unaware that his colleague was behind the vehicle.
